STAFF PROFILES

Pastor Evan

Pastor Evan Hong has been our youth pastor since September 2000. He is a graduate of Pomona College (B.A. in Neuroscience) and Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M. in Educational Leadership) and is a transplant from So Cal. This explains his fanaticism for his sports teams (Dodgers, SC football, Cowboys, Bruins basketball and Lakers). When not engaged in ministry, Pastor Evan enjoys experimenting on his BBQ grill and keeping in touch with former graduates of youth & college ministries. He continues to be involved in youth ministry after 14 years because he feels compelled to minister to students at the stage in life when they are formulating their views of God, self and the world. Pastor Evan will be teaching the HS Bible Foundations SSH Bible Study class in 2007-08.

Pastor Jieun

Pastor Jieun Lee has been at our church for several years serving as our Upper Children’s Ministry pastor. In August, she transitioned to her new position as our Middle School pastor. She is one of the OGs of KEPC YM and the first home-grown pastor of our church. She is a graduate of UC Davis and Dallas Theological Seminary. When not stalking Pastor Evan, she does what all cool pastors do: go to Barnes & Nobles to read while looking cool sipping on coffee, go for cool walks in parks and write cool letters to her many cool friends. Pastor Jieun will be teaching the 6/7th Grade SSH Bible Study class in 2008-09.

David Kim

Mr. David “Mothergoose” Kim has been a teacher & youth staff member since returning from UCLA in 2003. Affectionately referred to as “#2″ by Pastor Evan, David has been invaluable in building up our youth ministry to where it is today. Aside from lovingly abusing the guys in our youth group, his talents include leading FOB games, having a comprehensive knowledge of ramen-making for all types ramen, and mastering pre-turn-of-the-millenium video games. If you ever need a ride or a teacher to hit up for a free meal, David is your man. David will be teaching the HS Spiritual Life SSH Bible Study class in 2008-09.

Deacon Hong

Mr. Sam “Ray Charles” Hong will be serving as a teacher in our ministry for his fourth year. A Washington state transplant and a UW graduate, Sam is an engineer by trade with a highest level of clearance at Lockheed Martin (he knows government secrets that we common citizens are not privy to). Presently, he is attending law school with intentions of changing career paths. He has a very powerfully resounding laugh. If you can get him to laugh in that manner, Pastor Evan will take you out for Jamba Juice/Starbucks. Sam will be teaching the HS Theology SSH Bible Study class in 2008-09.

Ryan Lim

Mr. Ryan “Has-No-Nickname-Until-We-Get-to-Know-Him-Better” Lim is the newest addition to our youth teaching staff. Ryan is a transplant from the state of Illinois where he graduated from UI Champaigne. He is a software engineer for Palm who enjoys biking and roller blading. He is a ping-pong master on par with David and takes the challenge of all you mortal ping-pongers. He will crush you like little fish eyeballs. This will be his first year serving as a teacher in our ministry. So, please be gentle with him. Ryan will be teaching the MS Bible Foundations SSH Bible Study class in 2008-09.
